چکیده
A Rayleigh-type surface acoustic wave (SAW) is used in various fields as classical and quantum information carriers because of its localization, high electrical controllability, low propagation loss. Coupling hybridization between the SAW other physical systems such magnetization, electron charge, spin are recent focuses phononics spintronics. precise measurement amplitude often necessary to discuss coupling strengths. However, there only a few techniques they generally require rather complex analysis. Here we develop demonstrate straightforward technique that can quantitatively characterize SAW. The optically detects waving due coherently driven by optical path modulation. Furthermore, when system operates shot-noise-limited regime, slope displacement at spot be deduced from modulation signal. Our demonstrated will an important tool for SAW-related research.

High-contrast optical modulation by surface acoustic waves
Numerical calculations are employed to study the modulation of light by surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in photonic band gap (PBG) structures. The on/off contrast ratio in a PBG switch based on an optical cavity is determined as a function of the SAW-induced dielectric modulation. We show that these structures exhibit high contrast ratios even for moderate acousto-optic coupling. PACS: 42.79.Ta, ...

The well-known thermo-elastic effect of laser irradiation can be exploited to produce strong localized stresses when an expanded, long pulse, low-intensity laser beam is used to irradiate the specimen. These stresses will produce a parametric modulation of the received ultrasonic signals, that is somewhat similar to the acousto-elastic effect often used in nonlinear ultrasonic studies. It is sh...

We present an imaging technique using an optically trapped cigar-shaped probe controlled using holographic optical tweezers. The probe is raster scanned over a surface, allowing an image to be taken in a manner analogous to scanning probe microscopy (SPM), with automatic closed loop feedback control provided by analysis of the probe position recorded using a high speed CMOS camera. The probe is...

Microactuation of free standing objects in fluids is currently dominated by the rotary propeller, giving rise to a range of potential applications in the military, aeronautic and biomedical fields. Previously, surface acoustic waves (SAWs) have been shown to be of increasing interest in the field of microfluidics, where the refraction of a SAW into a drop of fluid creates a convective flow, a p...
متن کاملOptical coherence tomography for quantitative surface topography.
We address the measurement and correction of fan distortion in optical coherence tomography (OCT). This effect arises from the scanning system configuration and prevents one, in general, from obtaining quantitative topographic data from OCT. Computer simulations allowed us to quantify the effect and evaluate its dependence on the scanning mirror separation and design of the collimating lens, as...
